The film seems to have been a really big story line that has been edited down and jumps too much with huge gaps in between.
With a running time of two hours and 40 odd minutes you certainly don’t feel like the film drags on however it just seems to leap through major chapters almost as if somebody has created a film after speed reading a book.
I think in summary I would have to say probably one of the most down-to-earth bond movies I’ve seen, there certainly isn’t any cheesy invincible man content. The movie shows a vulnerable and older bond, obviously Daniel Craig like all of us is getting older and this does show in the film, in a way as the perfect tone to set the mood for Daniel Craig’s exit.
Personally I like to be transformed into the the Bond world that many of us would like to live, however in this movie Bonds life’s fairly depressing.
A big thumbs up to Ana de Armas who delivered the content you would expect in a bond movie, her part certainly lifted the bar and would have probably been a better casting as the 007 side kick than the low key performance of Lashana Lynch.
On the subject of cast, why if you had a ounce of creative talent why would you cast Hugh Dennis in a Bond movie, his a great guy in a UK comedy series, or he would even make a good car bumper sticker, but in a Bond movie I don’t think so.
When the curtains came down I left feeling quite low and sad but nobody could claim that the film wasn’t realistic, as it certainly gave a true and realistic feel to the end of an era of a bond character.
If you look back at Daniels Craig’s previous bond movies you have really sharp clothes, nice cars, beautiful women but a lot of this seem to have be missed from this film, maybe as part of his demise.
Land Rover are due to launch a 007 V8 version of the new Defender, given it’s £110,000 price tag, it was clear that a £10,000 Toyota land cruiser could see off £220,000 worth of Land Rovers Defenders and £200,000 worth of Range Rover Sport with a couple of tugs on the steering wheel.
Land Rover this will do little for your great image it certainly won’t do any damage but I would’ve expected a bit more performance and fight from the brand.
The Omega watch connection again not that the bond movie should be a marketing opportunity but given the watch only blows somebody’s eye out again a little bit of a missed opportunity, maybe these brands didn’t feel like stepping up to the mark or maybe they did but were sold short by the films producers.
If I were asked to rank the five movies featuring Daniel Craig I would have to rate this as number five being the poorest, I think Casino Royale and Spectre hold the top two slots followed by Skyfall and quantum of solace finishing off with no time to die.
Overall I would score the film three points out of five.
