The show, as of 2020, just isn't really funny anymore. I keep trying to give it a chance but hardly even gets a chuckle now. Trevor is intelligent, insightful and funny in his stand-up, but I don't know what happened now that he's been on the show a few years, and the quality has declined significantly since the pandemic. It has become anti-intellectual (one can do dick and fart jokes and still not be dumbed down, Stewart always did), it's reliant on his impressions which are childish and annoying, and none of the correspondents with the exception of Roy Wood Jr. (a shining outlier who always delivers) are remotely funny. They don't do as many field pieces, there's less of an international perspective which was a strength he first got on, and the jokes are hacky. Sam Bee, Colbert, John Oliver and Sam Bee are running circles around him, he did not deserve that Emmy nomination. It's worth periodically giving a chance just to see if they improved, but quite frankly it's stuck in a rut right now.
