Woefully underrated gem of the Sword and Sorcery genre with a nice cast and some interesting moral dilemmas. It's charming, humorous, and the special effects are great (the dragon effects especially)—remember, this was made with 40 year old technology. Also, I happen to really like Alex North's score (I find it off-beat and refreshing for the genre)...but one does wonder if this film that American audiences didn't really warm up to that much would have been more commercially successful at the box office (not necessarily "better" though) if producers had hired John Williams to do the music...? I'm glad they didn't because "Dragonslayer" is terrific As Is.
