Deciding on what to watch during the festive season is no easy task. Partly down to tired old re-runs and nostalgic family favourites. I was surprised when I tuned into Around the World in Eighty Days BBC 1, to find a fresh approach to Jules Vernes classic novel. A troubled hero (David Tennant) in a changing world. The writers have accomplished in creating the setting as seen from a street level. Our hero not only has the task of completing his wager, but also to navigate his way through the human experience and emotional turmoil of the times, not to mention his own self doubts. If the first two episodes are anything to go by, then this adaption promises to develop and grow into one of this years finest offering. I for one am hooked.
