I guess nothing could have prepared me for this movie back in the early eighties, the scariest thing back then was the child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on Christmas day or a Witch trying to bundle Hansell and Grettle into a sodding oven. Forty plus years have passed and yet this Caribbean nerve shredder still holds fond memories for me, some great effects like the Conquistador graveyard with Zombies covered in purple congealed crusts rise slowly from the earth to the eerie music score from Fabio Frizzi. I still think about the beta max and vhs machines that sat pride of place in almost every living room up and down the country that sadly ground to a halt and are no more. Time moves on and you can still see this great movie through the likes of blu ray as I still occasionally do. Yes this movie does have its faults, some bad acting not all, the dubbing due to the fact that half of the actors spoke English and the rest spoke in Italian, If you put these aside what your left with is probably the greatest zombie movie to ever make it on to celluloid.
