I wish it was possible to give a negative star, as I have never been so profoundly bored by a film.
It starts out with a statement "This is a fable taken from a true tragedy", which gave me hope that this film would tell a good story.
But even later the same day of watching this movie, I genuinely don't know what it was trying to say.
Perhaps the only interesting insight comes from Charles, who tries to explain to Diana the need to be two people; the one they really are & the one the public think they are.
Other than that, I don't think it contributes anything to Diana, it resolves nothing & it doesn't ask you to consider anything from that time in a new light.
What was the point of portraying Diana's childhood home as a derelict house ready for demolition, and just across the paddock from Sandringham?
It's just a weird montage of Diana's issues, set against the backdrop of a historic English house. Without any of her strengths making a real appearance.
Save your money, as I certainly wish I had not spent my time or money on it.
Definitely one of those movies whose best moments are in the trailer.
