This is such a refreshing movie, this is explained better in "The Fantastic Masculinity of Newt Scamander" by Pop Culture Detective. The take on the main masculine character is so new, where the male isn't like others such as Captain America, where they possess superhuman powers. The movie sensibilize male as more than what regular Hollywood film portrays them as. It is honestly sad that critiques can't see past the wall Hollywood has built up of buff, violent, and reckless males. A shy, timid male character does not equal a boring movie.

I have never watched any of the Riverdale series, only started watching this because of when Lucy Hale was on Supergirl. From what I have heard, Riverdale has gone complete bonker into murder and supernatural stuff. Katy Keene is the complete opposite (I hope because you never know what the writers are going to do). It's simple and refreshing from everything else the CW shows, definitely is inspired by The Devil Wears Prada meets Legally Blonde. More down to earth than other CW shows, more realistic and relatable. Relatable not as in everything works out before the episode ends, but "oh hey they're facing relevant problems". While Katy Keene is the main character, there are really 4 but it does a good job of time distribution so it doesn't seem rushed.

I love this show, it was honestly amazing... childish, mature, but still perfect for teens. Definitely relatable for Asian kids, a great series and storyline (Asian aunties are my favourite parts). The actors were very good at portraying the character, I'm glad they incorporated Cantonese into the show. Very sad that the show is ending, I was hoping for so many other seasons, however, it was perfect!!!
