I don't usually review movies because to be honest, the times of quality movies is fading,
And only movies like Asuran gives us a hope that Cinema is not a mere entertainment and money making business but a edutainment supposed to be.
5/5 -
1. for it has handled 'Caste' issue which still needs to be spoken loud in our country.
2. Screenplay
3. Dhanush
I'm not going get into the story but will just reveal one scene and the impact behind it.
Elder son of Sivasamy (Dhanush), Murugan (Teejay) slaps Vadakkooraan (Aadugalam Naren) with slipper as he made his father fall at all of town people's feet as a punishment for a clash that happened between their two sons.
(As Sivasamy comes from a lower caste [SC/ST] and Vadakkooraan belongs to upper caste)
And when Murugan hit Vadakkooraan with slipper, the whole theatre erupted and applauded.
And I can infer only one thing here, irrespective of caste or community, every one of us are so against dominion and authority that is forcible by any means.
May be our boss at office, few of our friends or colleagues, politicians, policemen, our spouse - the bottom line is, "Don't have authority/dominion over me."
More than a caste issue, this is an issue of our minds.
I find it so stupid and brainless in 2019, how can one discriminate someone based on where they come from and the skin color they bear.
Only if, we adapt and tell our minds strongly that, as long as we all don't have an ideal environment of opportunities and supplements for life, we are in no position to differentiate people.
And also only when we learn to love people more than judging as everyone has their own struggles and setbacks, this world would be a better place.
Asuran is an eye opener.
Thank you,
GNK.
