BINGEWORTHY
I just finished watching a documentary series on Netflix called “Murder Mountain.” In six, 40-minute episodes, it examines the outlaw marijuana culture in California and how it is now struggling with the legalization of marijuana and the prohibitive cost (for most) of becoming a legal grower.
If focuses on Humbolt County, California, which has the distinction of being the both the marijuana growing and missing persons capital of the U.S. Up until now, it was all outlaw growers.
The documentary also examines one particular murder, which remains officially unsolved, but everyone knows who did it, because eight vigilantes got him to admit to it and take them to where he buried the body. They dished out some pretty harsh outlaw justice on their own, but he survived and has never been arrested.
The sheriff’s office didn’t like it, but if you’re looking for an entertaining and educational weekend binge, I highly recommend “Murder Mountain.”
