I was hopeful and excited about this book, however was left disappointed when I realized that this book does not actually depict children's home families as diverse but very stereotypical.
I cannot read it in good faith to my very small, private school class that includes same sex & bi-racial families.
I imagine larger public school classrooms have a much broader diversity so this book would be even less suitable.
I personally feel this book depicts superficial, cliche illustrations of diversity without being as welcoming as it is advertised to be.
This will not be a remaining staple book in my classroom, unfortunately.
Would give 1 star but did reach out to the author and got a quick response stating she would keep in mind my concerns for future books so gave an extra star for that effort.
