I enjoyed the book and its interesting plot and characters. The conclusion was a surprise, which made the book more enjoyable. I particularly liked Molly's quirky character and how she had to learn to understand the world around her.

Great movie. I especially enjoyed Maximillian Schell's and Richard Widmark's performances. Spencer Tracy was also good. I didn't realize how many Nazis were released so early from prison. Spencer Tracy's line sticks with me after Schell's character bets him that all the Nazis will be released within five years. "It's only logical," Schell tells him. "It may be logical," Tracy says, complimenting him on his use of logic in the trial. "But being logical doesn't make it right."

I don't think Treadwell understood the implacability of nature. While his motives were noble, his anthropomorphizing of the Grizzlies' behavior led to his and his friend's demise. As the Native American in the film noted, the barrier between humans and wild animals should be respected. Treadwell seemed to view the bears as pets, even giving his eventual killer the name "Chocolate. " His naivete was ultimately tragic and heartbreaking.
