Double Exposure, the latest game in the Life is Strange franchise, feels...unfinished. I personally was really looking forward to this game, and upon first look, it feels familiar to the original game, but it is lacking in some fundamental aspects.
Firstly, this game had a lot of loose ends and unanswered questions. It almost feels like they throw in a new idea into the story for the excitement, but don't actually use those ideas for any kind of development or overall importance.
A great example of this is the Loretta character. It feels like her character is going to be somewhat of an antagonist because she's questioning and investigating max in the first chapters but I don't think she even made an appearance in the last several chapters. Why introduce a character, give her screen time, and then just not use her??? Same thing with the detective. He's introduced, he plays into the story, and then bam never used again.
It really feels like this game was trying to imitate the first one but also trying to "be different" and original by tossing in random junk. Let's see, both stories are a sort of whodunnit mystery, both have a big storm, both are about max and her best friend... but the main difference is that Safi is just.. not a good character. She is uninteresting, unlikable, really bland ... but D9 hated Chloe.
That is also an issue I have with this. I understand why Chloe isn't a main character (because then they'd have to make two whole versions of this game) but not even one scene? Not even vague short clips? In the first game, if you saved Kate, there was one scene where you visited her in the hospital. If she died, then that scene doesn't happen. Why can't they do something similar in this game? Why spend two entire games building this MAJOR character just to abandon them? Why act like none of it happened... why doesn't max talk to ANY of the old characters? It's just ridiculous. They want to recreate the first game's magic with none of the loveable characters, with an unoriginal storyline... ugh. And now they want to have a bunch of magical superpower characters.. just a convoluted mess.
