Simply put, the acting was phenomenal, Bale‘s ability to channel the Cheney made this worth a watch. It’s tendency to portray some of the conservative politicians as far more uncivil then they actually were is very hard to ignore, and because of that it makes some parts difficult to watch if you hold more conservative views. Another thing, which could be more attributed to Dick Cheney’s life rather than the movie script it’s self, is a lack of any real climax in the film. The most exciting part is in the middle of the film, and rather than a concluding and satisfying end, we are given more conflict until the movie ends. It would have served the film good if it had focused on his Vice Presidency, or maybe the highlights of his early life in politics and his Vice Presidency, rather than trying to be a full fledged Dick Cheney documentary. Despite all this, the acting and engaging plot(in the beginning and middle) make it a decent film.
