Frustrating to watch due to the atrocious writing, wooden main actress in a dual role, and the ridiculously abrupt endings to each episode.
+ Action is pretty solid
- Writing regarding character motivations. Almost no forshadowing used in entire show, as the characters abruptly change course with only a weak declaration of intent. This comes at the cost of having virtually zero growth or actual development.
-Writing is also weird. In the 5th episode you can tell that they give Jecki and Osha a scene together to demonstrate/preach to the audience by showing positive sisterhood when these characters barely know each other and someone like Yord or Sol would have been closer to Osha. It's mindboggling to watch a show care less about writing than weirdly virtue-signaling something that doesn't impact the actual story.
Include a 5 second scene showing Mae remember her sister's laugh before she decides to turn on her master with zero warning? No. Write a 5 minute scene that does nothing but show Osha's hesitancy to confront her sister while ultimately sending her anyway? Check.
- Probably the biggest failure is the complete misunderstanding of Star Wars as a brand and the failure to use a Hero's Journey style framework for the hero character. The Jedi are represented unevenly and the lack of a clear heroic path makes it difficult to root for Osha at all. She fails to confront/stun Mae in ep2... does she receiving guidance or help in dealing with her emotions in order to prepare for a 2nd encounter? No... just a bunch of sequences of events that does not equal an actual story. Does she get help finding her faith in herself and the force in order to have a cool wampa moment prior to episode 6? No, an entire group of jedi including her former master just choose to ignore her and the situation.
