I first saw this when it originally came out ten years ago, and it still holds up as a great little indie film. And well worth watching and rewatching - not only a great tribute to the late and lovely Luke Perry, but also the very first screen appearance by Nicholas Galitzine, just eight weeks from leaving school and in his first professional role.
He nails the part of a geeky loner with an ambition to be a rock god, acting a storm, singing and playing guitar beautifully. I spotted him then, and have been watching his growing career with interest and delight ever since. And there is a telling final scene that foresees the highly gifted talent he has become since!
It is a quirky and clever little film, with some great songs, and is the definition of a down to earth feel good movie; which is easier to say than to achieve! Highly recommended.
