Worth the read for the story, and it had some genuinely good descriptions here and there, but it felt like a book that had only gone through one edit and rushed onto shelves. If you're someone that is taken out of a book from bad writing, then maybe look elsewhere.
Some of the issues that I noticed were tense issues, a change from first person to second person perspective for no real reason, overly repeating things (you can only tell me the mc is on the verge of laughing or tears so many times), a 34 year old character that felt like they were 19, and a quirky gay sidekick that was enjoyable, but also an overplayed trope and a stereotype.
The worst part is the amazing potential the book had. Many parts were fantastic and if more time was put into it it could have been something truly special.
