Jon Hilgers

One of my favorite movie musicals. It's a beautiful mess. The songs are really amazing, though perhaps better experienced on the soundtrack. The world building is impressive. And while Robert Altman may have been a strange choice for this, I love his unique direction. I'm not always a big fan of Robin Williams (may he rest in peace), but this might be my favorite of all his performances. It's funny and physical and touching. Finally, Shelley Duvall couldn't be more perfect as Olive Oyl. Love.

I liked this better than the average reviewer - I'd give it 4.2 if I could. I especially liked the end, which given the subject matter was handled with thoughtfulness and good humor. I don't always like McKay's movies but I liked this one. Everyone was good, Leo was really good.
