I will say the movie will make you laugh and cry. I was in the navy, nothing like that in the movie..... but pretty close to it. All those letters he wrote to get off that ship. So many, someone in charge of reading them you think might take notice that something was wrong with the captain! As for those that didn't think much of the movie would wonder what age they are. The younger generation nowadays has no idea what made that move great. Understand this was made in 1955. I must believe that there are some wise young generations out that just might see it for what it is. A really great movie to watch and understand what it is helping you to realize. That some of us are doing really great compared to a character like Mr. Roberts and the crew of that wacky boat dealing with a devil like captain. Watch it and get happy.
