All in all the book is Ok although sometimes boring when the author lectures about stuff mentioned in the novel. I don't think the book is comparable with any of Down Brown's earlier masterpieces.

greatly enjoyed Mahfouz's Arabian nights. They took me to a world full of magic and charm which you only experience when you are a child!
