I think better in away from the Hollywood film version of the original stage play! Which I have loved since a child. That looked like a stage play on screen! This moves around the streets with a sense of an evolving city life? The Sharks and Jets good comparison of new and older diaspora and the Music score (seriously engaging) sweeps you up and more lively with a better sense of post war NY and the slum clearance! Both main actors are believable and v professional! Dancers Jets and Sharks Truely awesome! I know some don’t like Spielberg but he’s pulled this off’ for me anyway! Xx
