Incredible story.... Joe confirmed many of the facts I heard from my parents about Bagnoli Refugee Camp...and quite a number of new facts to me were described in Joes story of flight for FREEDOM! Hopefully many youngsters will also read Joe Vitovecs story to learn from what was the Czech Exile in 1948. Once the Nazis left and the Soviets came the wish of becoming free of the Germans turned into another horror... No good with Authoritarian regimes...many left for their own survival and many returned thinking it would be easier to handle back in their home country but the truth became another-imprisonment or death... Really worh your while toread this amazing life story of courage,resilience to find a place of peace and be able to call it home after years of adaptation.
