I knew going in that it was going to be really hard to revive the franchise. By the end of the original trilogy it seemed clear that they had taken the story as far as it needed to go. That said, I did enjoy the callbacks to the original and the new actors. The overall story worked within the matrix universe, however, it felt too forced. I think two movies would have done a much better job. Ultimately it was enjoyable but not nearly as good as the original.
