A very haunting and authentic portrayal of the actual case in Bihar, but I'm sure this is happening everywhere in the country.
Bhumi Padnekar's acting is really good and so is her supporting cast.
I really like that her character is unapologetic in pursuing the case as an honest journalist and at the same time unapologetic in living her life without the shackles of patriarchy. For once we also get to see how a husband can make his wife's life so much easier by just supporting her instead of becoming another hurdle in her life.
Please note, there are some gruesome acts of violence against women as the subject matter but it is portrayed very respectfully and it is not used for shock value. A lot of the criminal acts are mentioned in dialogue but nothing is shown on camera.
The best is saved for the last, instead of giving the audience a neat ending it turns the camera on the audience and asks us, have we become so apathetic that we have also become part of the "bhakshaks".
Kudos to Red Chillies for giving us this film, hope they continue to use their resources to give us more quality content.
Only one place where it could have been slightly better is the storytelling which could have more tightly woven for a higher impact.
