Confusing and disappointing
I enjoyed the first few episodes, but was increasingly baffled as the show when on. To be fair, the criticisms about the lore feel like an effort to create flaws. Star wars has always played fast and loose with physics and Disney has made it clear that much of the old material is no longer canon. There are fun visuals and a few exciting lightsaber fights, but overall, the subversive messaging of the show and poor character writing make for a disappointing result.

I think this show suffered so much because the writers were trying to make the show fit around the point they were trying to make. "It's not about good and evil," says the mother witch, "it's about power and who's allowed to use it." The Jedi are not good by this logic. They are evil because they suppress the minority force users. Never mind that the force users who appear throughout the show have power-hungry / homicidal streaks. Perhaps the writers meant to be more nuanced, but it certainly doesn't come across.
The character motivations were increasingly muddled as the show went on. I had whiplash as characters, on multiple occasions, made choices that flew in the face of who they previously were, or what they had claimed they wanted. Poor telegraphing could maybe be blamed, but the result was confusing and messy.
The good guys are bad, and the bad guys are... also bad? The original Star Wars trilogy ends with Luke refusing to lift his blade against his greatest enemy. His father is redeemed as a result of Luke's forgiveness and good prevails.
Here, peace is found only in revenge and embracing anger and hatred. I was genuinely disturbed as the moment where Osha murders her master seems to be portrayed as healing. I had to spend some time reflecting on the finale because I was so confused by the characters actions.
Eventually I came to this conclusion. I believe the writers are presenting a new moral framework. Remember "It's not about good and bad. It's about power, and who's allowed to use it." The kindly Jedi Sol makes a confession before he dies. He says that the reason he killed the Mother witch was because she "was too powerful". The logic and actions of the characters seem divorced from all reality, because they are divorced from reality. The messaging might have been bearable if it were at least written well but the writers were more interested in getting their point across than telling a believable story.
I am frustrated and disappointed with this show. I don't recommend it to anyone.
