I wanted to like this. I sorely miss the series Men of a Certain Age and I was hopeful, with the talent that's involved, that it would have that same level of intelligent writing. So disappointed. Having an 'old school' senior, Stanley (Arkin), mouthing one politically incorrect line after another is not only out of touch, but also far from funny.
When Stanley's daughter suggests he donate some clothes to charity, he makes a remark about not wanting to see some homeless woman wearing a fur that his wife wore to the Golden Globes. Wow. The Hollywood bubble is still solidly intact. In these times of great disparity between the haves and have-nots, it's really sad to see this made into a laughing matter.
The era of celebrity worship is due for a curtain call.
