Spider-Man: No Way Home (Review): To say that this movie wasn’t fun or atleast okay would be a lie, because it was enjoyable. I believe that the comedic component of any film is vital to this enjoyment, however I do to believe that the comic relief was, at pivotal moments, inappropriate, which overshadowed any level of seriousness. Goblin (Willem) was the star of the movie, and his scenes were by far the most captivating and brutal. His limited screen time and involvement in the later part was a missed opportunity. The villains merely interacted with the general public, and the final fight scene, consisted of at the most scaffolding falling down. I think the alteration of the villains character arc, especially Goblins, was dissapointing, as doctor strange states that their fate is set. Saying this I do understand that the moral is that people can be fixed, but this is not how the comics, nor Sam Raimi symbolised a character such as the goblin, and the Happily ever after ending for those characters was predictable.
Enough of the negative, I must admit that the ending sets up for what could be the best Spider-Man movie so far for Tom Holland, considering he has been guided and mentored with the help of May and his friends till now. This independence should see him come more into his own as a more competent and complex Spider-Man/character, whereas until now, (although he is a kid) he has not been so.
