Cheesy Rom com with an eighties musical attached for a bit of fun to while away a bit of time, yes it may be comparable to mamma Mia or pitch perfect or even high school musical. In reality it's just a bit of light hearted musical escapism, so just enjoy it as a movie and don't take it to seriously.
