The title of the book makes one think it is a spy story in which some rogue agency involving Ganga , the river and a nuclear bomb. However , it is a non fiction account of how a lost radioactive material was lost in 1960s on Nanda devi Parbat and may have washed down in the river. Written by an ex RAW officer, the top spy agency the incident is quite intriguing as very few people know about it.In 1964, Chinese detonated a nuclear bomb in Lop Nor and USA was quite alarmed about it.CIA wanted to keep a tab upin cchinese esigns and their nuclear capabilities and so reamed up with IB of India to place a nuclear powered monitoring device at Nanda Devi.However bad weather forced them to place it down the ledge. The device went missing in 1966 due to avalanche when indian climbers went to retrieve it. Both Indianand USA side maintained studied silence dure to its sensitivity The book is a study in this matter as author tries to find out what efforts have been made by government to retrieve it. Though the cover of the book is quite attractive and the title quite suggestive however the book meanders quite a bit .It is an interesting book but could have been shortened somewhat.
