For a second I thought I would give this movie two stars just for having Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock, but after further consideration I realized that their charm couldn't even save this movie. The Saw franchise's distant, weird and off-putting uncle that doesn't get invited to Thanksgiving, Spiral is the worst in the series. Ignoring the twist villain being more transparent than a napkin on pizza grease, Spiral's "spiral" of the typical Saw trope was bland and unoriginal. Much like the writing, the movie relishes in empty, cookie cutter spectacle to engage their audience. Finally, the ending of this movie is reminiscent of a watered down and emotionless recreation of the ending of the first Saw movie, only this time we have the Zebra from Madagascar howling into my ears. Praying they cancel the sequel.
