Immaculately made film like you would expect from Christopher Nolan! It's an 8.9/10 for me. The only thing you have to know going in is that this is a dialogue heavy drama. Don't go in expecting a bunch of explosions. This is about Oppenheimer and the juxtaposition b/w the Manhattan project - his intentions as well as the beauty and horrors of the kind of mind he had - and the realities after. So in that sense Oppenheimer is not like Tenet or Inception to where it’s fast paced with action set pieces.
It reminded me a lot of 12 Angry Men. Certain scenes certainly did seem to be homages to that - now for a dialogue heavy film the pacing is great. There isn’t any fat in this film in my opinion. Every scene had a purpose and built to something. So it is a fast paced, but not in the same as Tenet or Inception if that makes sense. But that is in part one thing I love about the film. It doesn’t feel like a movie in 2023. It feels like it’s a classic 1970s movie with present day production values and stuff. I am amazed by Nolan’s practical use of effects here and the craft on display. 8.9/10 for me.
