As someone who hasn’t read the books there was no way to know what was going on from beginning to end. The prologue and whole script lacked depth. You feel nothing for any of the characters. Made worse you can’t hear what they’re saying with constant mumbling and crying from Paul’s mum paired with super dramatic loud music. Wish we had subtitles but wouldn’t have helped this film be any more entertaining.
My husband paused the film mid way just to Google the synopsis. If I had watched at the cinema I would’ve so bitter about the money wasted. Don’t recommend if you’re caught up with the books.
