It is exactly as jarring as it should be.. in each moment, I was either uncomfortable or frustrated or feeling a completely unexpected connection to each character. There are metaphors galore, and moments where you question what the holy hell is going on. If you take the time, invest as a viewer, and let go of expectations of the cliche, predictable outcome, you will enjoy this film. It is not for the overly distracted, check your Instagram, “just playing a film in the background as white noise” audience. You have to work for the “pay off”.
The dialogues, hidden metaphors, subtle, not so subtle narratives, make this one of the more interesting films I’ve seen in a while. Im interested in other opinions. “Slow burn”??? Yes... but is it a “low and slow” pay off? I really think so!
