So from the story perspective the movie focuses on singing and jealousy of an artist, but deep down it touches topics of mental issue, parenting, male chauvinism, lack of ambition and career insecurities as per my knowledge. The portrayal of gharanas and gender discrimination was actually brilliant.
Technically the movie is quite amazing. The direction was very nuansed and layered, the social commentary did not feel forced. yes its very cliche to say but actually every frame felt like a painting. Dialouges were as per the timeline the movie set it and the locations were selected and shot brilliantly. The so called suspense was quiet obvious if you are an avid movie watcher, but its not a suspense movie so we can give it a pass.
The music of this movie is pure magic done by Amit Trivedi. While it is suitable to the 40s yet it was not boring in this time. While Ghode pe sawar is more famous, Nirbhau Nirvair is just amazing.
Performance wise Tripti Dimpri was amazing thorughout the movie, every expression was on point though there were limitations as per script. Babil khan and Swastika mukherjee also did a commendable job, the bond they had and the disgust a mother had for her daughter was also portrayed brilliantly. Varun Grover's dialouges were nice and same as his poetries were satire on the system.
Overall a decent watch on Netflix if you have a little patience and love for this type of cinema.
