An outstanding biography of an outstanding public servant of Great Britain. in the far East.
I first came across Thompson's exploits in the early sixties when reading Bernard Fergusson's and Michael Calvert's accounts of the Chindits in India and Burma in 1943/44. He was then attached as RAF liaison officer focused on air support, supply and air casevac for the Chindits.
Since then and specialising in the War against Japan and the Malayan counter - insurgency campaign after the Japanese surrender, Thompson's name arises regularly and since WW2 - I have never read or heard a dissenting voice about Thompson, only praise.
He was a true son of Britain and the British Empire.
