The two five star reviews has to be friends with one of the actors. I sat there at the end of the movie and wondered what was the point, I just didn't get it. It felt like it was created by someone great and then when made into a movie it was savagely edited and they left the whole point of the story on the cutting room floor. Extremely disjointed from the storyline to the choice of actors. It appears the budget was mostly given to Carrie and Rita and then casting was forced to choose first time actors. The sex and alcohol content with the 12 year old was not just unnecessary and inappropriate, but played no relevance what so ever. My questions are....How is the girl magical? Where did that magic come from? What is her purpose for the magic? What is the purpose of the two worlds? She "saves" her sister but what happens to the parents? Why did Yana need the "magic bracelet" and what was her need for it? What is the history between Hazel and Yana with a 30+ year old age gap between the "sisters"? Why did Violet follow the red ribbon into the guts of a venus fly trap other than hazel told her too? And what was the overall point of this movie? 2 stars for Rita and Carrie.

It's not totally unwatchable, however.... The score and the disjointed script between the old world and new is annoying. Modern music and modern language in a fantasy that is obviously set in a "period time" does not work, the series destroys the fundamental element from the original movie which is a classic and therefore lacks consistency. Such a shame. I'm giving 3 stars for the casting of Ellie Bamber and the return of Warwick Davis.

I really enjoyed this series, I thoroughly loved the concept and it's originality and I was completely present with the lead characters. I had no expectations when I started watching this and I was not in the state of mind to start a series.................... 8 hours later and I am officially Archive 81 fanning and wanting more. The impression it had on me was I needed to know "what happened". Paranormal, thrilling, low level gore, infatuation and desperation on many levels from the characters, the performances were truly well executed. Well done. I will be so very disappointed if there is not a season 2.

Eternally boring.........I wanted to give 5 stars and give an awesome review, sadly I can not. I yawned so much through this movie. You can always cover a boring storyline with amazing special effects, this did not happen. The connection between the characters was disjointed and the comic delivery was unnatural. There was absolutely no continuity in the storyline, there was too much "modern humanizing" and connections to the seven thousand years on Earth was swept aside with snippets that could have been an incredible historical journey building up to a action packed confrontation with the deviants, it needed a monumental injection of action to keep the audience wanting more. I am so very surprised that Marvel and Disney signed of on this. What could have been potentially the most prodigious continuum to the Marvel franchise has sadly fallen minutely to it's predecessor. My suggestion is re-write, re-make and re-cast some of the characters. Use the budget wisely, we want special effects as the core element.

The casting OMG! Bruce Willis must have signed on before he read the script or knew who he was working with. I love Sci-Fi movies, even the cheesy ones but this is so poorly executed I am surprised Bruce didn't buy it and stash it away "never to be seen". I am embarrassed for him. On a brighter note, or should I say "respectively" it could have been a great movie with a much better script and a whole new cast. A 90's-00's Sci-Fi TV vibe with B grade canadian acting.
