It was potentially a good script idea that was ruined by abysmal directing. Tommy Lee Jones needed a better linguistic coach to successfully pull off the Irish persona. And Jeff Bridges' insufferable lip smacking is as hammy as his constant kissing. All signs point yo a terrible director (and producers?) forcing the otherwise seasoned actors into terrible performances to please an imagined audience.
