I've read the reviews. I agree that series 5 was disappointing. There was just too much happening. I also wasn't thrilled with Ross and Demelza. It got a little "schmatlzy". It was like watching two new characters. That being said- this is still my ALL TIME favorite TV show- EVER. I didn't watch the early version and I have no wish to. I'm probably lucky I hadn't read the books yet either. I have purchased the 1st one and will start it in a few days. This show has everything a show needs to keep the audience riveted every episode. I kept passing it by when I was "surfing" on Amazon, and decided to give it a try. I will be watching it again with my husband. He's tired of me pestering him. Story great-check, Character great-check, Acting great- check. Aidan Turner- be still my heart- CHECK!
