There are obvious things I don’t get about this movie. Or should I say about real life, as it continues today, despite the movie and the obvious truths it exposes. Did it really expose anything we didn’t already know? We have all known all along that rich white men like Bill O’Reilly, or the Murdoch’s, or yes, even Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, are often disgusting pigs. And it’s hard for people to hear, but you can’t call out one without calling out the other. But what gets me the most is that aside from the main story being about sexual harassment, the me too movement, and Rogers’s perversions...it’s the fact that people still watch Fox News. It doesn’t take much effort to establish why and how the network was formed. It was never meant to be fair and balanced anymore than CNN was. However, you cannot convince me that Fox isn’t the worst. I actually pity those who work for the network, who cling to this false idea that conservatives are somehow better, and that Fox is a source of good in the country. It’s quite the opposite. Fox News has done irreparable damage to the minds of America. I’ve seen it, in real time, in my own family and circle of friends. Fox had a goal from day one, and that goal was to profit from making 50% of America HATE the other 50%, through lies, opinions, and long legs on pretty women. This movie should make Fox viewers, as well as Fox employees, feel like garbage. You see how Fox thinks of you. You want to believe they care enough about you, that they bring you “news” that makes you feel good about what your inner beliefs are. And it shouldn’t. Fox cares about only one thing, just like CNN, MSNBC and the others, and that is money! Aside from the fact that this movie didn’t teach me anything I didn’t already know, and that I know not one person who watches Fox will stop watching it because of this movie, I think it was a good movie. Charlize, Margot, and Kidman are ALWAYS fantastic. So is Lithgow. McKinnon was a nice surprise, having no idea who was in the movie when I pressed play. In summary, a well acted movie about how awful men AND women can be when money is more important than the world you leave your children. You can turn on Fox tomorrow, and you’ll see attractive women with nude legs, reading teleprompters of right-wing bias. And just like Trump’s conversation in the van with Billy Bush should have ended his time in the spotlight, but had no effect. This movie will not even began to repair the damage Fox and networks like it have caused to our country and our planet.
