Good idea, poor execution. I was actually pretty excited about this movie, so it was pretty disappointing to see what it actually was. I feel like a lot of the praise for this movie comes solely from it showing a "good, Christian man" that struggles, but remains faithful. Even that message felt rather lost a lot of the time. Honestly, the acting for most of the characters wasn't good, it felt rushed and a lot of it felt really fake. It definitely took me away from the "based on a true story". Near the end, especially, the characters just become frustrating and behave very unrealistically. I wouldn't watch it again or recommend it to anyone, regardless of faith. There are far better movies out there if you're looking for something that makes you feel good about your beliefs and instills some kind of good values. Another reviewer said they think this could have made a good mini series though and I agree that it COULD do well that way. I feel like a story like this needs to be longer and maybe spend more time in the editing process. I would probably have better things to say if it were. To end, I don't think this is a BAD movie, it's just not a good one.
