I'm new to K-dramas. I've watched quite a few but this is my 5th one that I watch repeatedly. Best actor award should go to Ji Chang-wook. I've never seen such raw emotion being portrayed so convincingly on-screen. Period. He made me smile, sad, laugh, and cry as he took me through his rollercoaster journey between despair and euphoria. At times I was convinced he wasn't acting but living his role. I laughed and cried with the first police station scene to report a theft. I felt his pain in his meltdown over the 'guy' he heard when he called Lee Euno's phone. And his drunken monologue when he thought he was seeing her in a dream at the restaurant, oh my gosh, I literally wanted her to give him a hug, and I was so happy she agreed to hug him.
(He and Kim Jiwon are beautiful and convincing together. Only time will tell whether their chemistry can surpass the intensity she portrayed with her love interest in Descendants of the Sun, which earned them both a well-deserved best couple award).
My best supporting actor award would have to go to Ryu Kung Soo in his outstanding portrayal as Kang Geon. His relationship with Seon Young - outstanding performance too as the oft-hilarious wild love interest - kept me glued to the screen. She is clearly the love of his life, and it's not difficult to see why. For her part, her heart has little room for anyone else but Geon, but all told it's an entirely dysfunctional relationship which could never pass begin. He's not safe with her. Lol.
Thanks to the producers of this outstanding epic. Great cast of characters. I absolutely loved the soundtrack. The cinematography is mesmerising. The storyline unique and exquisite. Is there anything I want done differently? Wish I could have seen more of the intriguing relationship between the handsome cop and the actress. But that was the whole point, I guess, and it was only fitting that they saved this part for last. I give the drama a thumbs up. Perfection.
