Beautifully acted. Very moving. Very educational

Elvis’s second film and first colour movie - and first one where he appears with black hair- which he kept for the rest of his life. Certainly worth a watch, especially because of the music - and showing Elvis in all his ‘50s glory. Watch out for Got a lot of livin’ to do’ at the end of the movie, fabulous dancing, and you get to see Elvis’s parents sitting in the aisle seats and clapping along to their son’s beat - and no doubt pleased as punch - and rightfully so! What a performer! And what a singer! And a pretty good actor!

Pretty good acting from Elvis, a reasonably close second to King Creole. Some fabulous lines - the famous ‘that ain’t tactics honey, that’s just the beast in me’! And many others. Of course, great music, principally Leiber and Stoller. And the dancing in ‘Jailhouse Rock’!!

Not a bad showing for Elvis’ first showing as an actor. But also great music, tho I believe Elvis was very disappointed that he was requested to sing on this film, as he had his sights set on acting. Fabulous moves in ‘we’re gonna move’!

If you think Elvis made only duff films, WATCH THIS!

Absolutely excellent in the every way, particularly superb acting and script.

The film which shows that Elvis Presley was a fledgling actor of some note. In fact, I remember the headline of a 1958 review in a film magazine which read ‘For he’s an actor now ...’. If only the trend had continued, which is what Elvis apparently wanted. Watch and enjoy this movie if you think Elvis only made duff films. Also look at ‘Flaming Star’, almost as fine. ‘Jailhouse Rock’ is pretty good too, as are some bits of ‘Follow That Dream’. All the films up to ‘King Creole’ are also blessed with marvellous music (he was, after all, essentially a super fine musician).

Best documentary I’ve ever seen about Elvis. Intensely moving, intensely informative. Beautiful music. Very well worth watching.
