I can see how this show might be considered appealing for its fantastical aspects and sure the actors did a good job. But as far as how it was executed, I found it very unclassy and disrespectful. The show almost seems to be making the attempt to appeal entirely to men and portray women very disrespectfully which is unusual considering that money and getting a lot of views seems to be one of their goals as well. If you want to be a porn director then just be a porn director. I didn’t come here for this. I came here to here to watch a fantasy epic with good writing and acting. And the portrayals of women as sex toys is disgusting. If this show were really any good they wouldn’t have to do that. It’s a common technique used in storytelling media to get more viewers, especially in stories that lack substance and don’t have anything else going for them. The Witcher is clearly better than that so the presence of it is clearly unnecessary. Probably either a financial decision to pull in more views or the creators have an affinity for gratuitous sex and violence more than the average person. And trying to portray women as empowered by how seductive they are is degrading and trashy. It gives a false sense of empowerment that is really only there to appeal to horny men and get more of them watching. If that’s there way of trying to portray women as powerful it’s pathetic and obviously coming from the perspective of a male.
