Poor acting, poor writing, characters make incredibly dumb decisions, there's one thrilling moment (spoiler- when Jackie pushes her wife) and then the rest is boring. One of the worst horror movies I've seen in a while. There's nothing else to say about this film that's how dull it is

4.5 If I could give it that. The story was intriguing, acting was great. It brings in the immigrant perspective of assimilation, struggle, so it has incredible depth. The horror itself was done well. Was creeped out for sure at parts. Would 100% recommend it. Seriously not a waste of time

(no spoilers) Read some reviews and watched this movie with low expectations and was surprised how much I actually enjoyed it. At first in the beginning, the movie timeline was slightly confusing but then it got better. What they were going for in this movie was a slow eerie chill, and for the most part, it worked. Some parts of the movie were typical, the classic little girl in the forest or the fact that all the Japanese people there would talk about the forest like it was a folk tale but it kept it realistic enough. There were some predictable and cheesy jump scares but there were moments when there was some good suspense. Besides that, the pacing was good for the most part. The story is a familiar one. Immersion was great. The acting was okay. There are some slight supernatural appearances which was a turn-off for me, I just find the supernatural movies unrealistic and boring but the movie actually pulls it off just the right amount. Overall I'm glad I took the time to watch it.

(no spoilers) This is one the most generic slashers I have ever watched. Which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. The movie itself is so obviously inspired by classic slashers such as the Friday the 13ths movies. They practically copied and pasted the formula so everything is predictable. The acting is cheesy, the writing script is corny, the story is bland and more generic than a scooby doo mystery, however, that can be looked at as good if that's what you are looking for. In conclusion, this is like barely passing as a good film. I'm going to wake up tomorrow and forget I watched this, that's how bland it is.

No spoilers, Good movie. Well worth the watch. This psychological thriller is filled with great acting. It is slower-paced but builds up momentum gradually. So don't expect jump scares or fast-paced action. Unfortunately, I feel like the ending was unfulfilling. Also on a side note, this is a Black dominated cast. It is refreshing to see some diversity in the horror genre. Feels like a Saw and reality tv inspired movie which may seem like a turn-off but I'd say give it a try. Not a masterpiece, but give it a shot if you're looking for a different take on the genre.

Edward Norton killed this movie for me. Monotone voice, bad acting, it was like a robot was acting. No emotion. Anthony Hopkins is the reason why I watched this, and silence of the lambs was fantastic from every angle. This one didn’t live up to the high expectations Silence of the Lambs set, which happens with most movie sequels and prequels.

SPOILERS! This was a sub par horror movie and it surprised me how much I liked it. This movie reminded me almost immediately like the horror video game series called outlast, and those who know of this will understand the similarities. I gave it a 3/5 because although character development was poor, and you didn’t feel that connected to the characters, it succeeded in being Erie and unsettling. Most horror movies have a certain type of emotion that they want you to feel and this movie tried to make everything seem unsettling, chaotic, and dark, which I believe it most definitely succeeded in doing. Besides bad character development, I also didn’t like how it had fantasy elements or magic elements implemented into the movie. I feel like a horror movie isn’t as scary when it is fantasy, so that was slightly disappointing but I didn’t mind it that much. As it seemed the deeper they went down the farther they were pulled away from reality, so in that way, you could roll with the punches. But besides those two things this movie succeeded in being a horror movie and I can appreciate this style even if it did seem “Indiana Jones” like. I also enjoyed the found footage style as well, I could go on and on analyzing every detail about this movie but in conclusion, it’s a good movie and you’ll either find it good or sub par. Pulling off a good horror movie is very difficult because you have to be convincing and engaging so this was good to me.

Well directed well filmed extremely memorable, unsettling, making you feel uncomfortable,great character development and acting, the story was fantastic and realistic. It high-tens the senses and gives you the absolute chills. This movie stayed true to the horror genre in such a unique way. Considering how the horror genre has changed in the last decade or so from just giving us bad jump scare after jump scare this movie just adds so much. I would 100% recommend it
