Often hard to watch but always engrossing and never boring. About a “good young Jewish girl” who doesn’t fit nicely into her society’s conceptions of what a good young Jewish girl should be. Coming of age in late adolescence, in a corrupt, hypocritical bourgeoise society, Dannielle (beautifully played by Rachel Sennot is surrounded by people who are relentlessly and unforgivingly insensitive and judgmental. It wasn’t easy to watch this movie, but we both we liked it very much. It is a very dynamic social drama, played out in one house over the course of one afternoon. Great script, well-paced, beautiful acting, filming, and directing. Serious movie and very much recommended to thoughtful adults.
