Just a mean, ugly edge fest of a film that shows the studio is so bored with their own continuity that they'd rather raze it all to the ground and press the reset button than continue to develop the characters and stories their movies have established. It takes until the first prominent character being literally ripped to pieces before you realize this movie has no stakes and nothing but action and gore for you. The tone is embarrassing, especially with scenes where Harley Quinn sings merrily while allies and enemies alike are shot in the head. Marvel at the movie realistically shows one character be burnt alive in gruesome detail, while another magically uses the power of love to resist mind control and transform into their costume like it's Sailor Moon. If you're a teenager and you wish that there was finally a DC movie where the action was "more realistic because bad guys would totally kill the heroes and there should be like blood and stuff" then boy is this a perfect film for you. If you're hoping for anything like Justice League Dark, or any of the non-Suicide Squad DC animated films, this is a hard pass.

Uncomfortable and confusing. The art direction is gorgeous and the animation is a lot of fun to watch. This is perfect for kids, as long as you have kids that don't actually ever watch stories to enjoy a story. What follows is a creepy cartoonish magical adventure about the brutal reality of child abuse, orphans, and social services in the real world, except it has a fairy tale ending where everything works out great. This has the exact same energy as 'Series of Unfortunate Events', so if you have the power to turn your brain off from how gross that story is, you'll love this.
