Okay, first of all, this movie isn't about Scorpion. It's about most of MK character cast. You have a couple of flashbacks dedicated to Sonya Blade, Jax, Kano, even Shang Tsung's story is hinted to be in there. And NONE of them relate to Scorpion in any way possible. In fact, Scorpion is the worst cut out character of all of them! You can hardly believe his motivation as soon as they strap that mask on top of his face (and his forehead becomes The Thing for some unbeknownst reason), I mean, sure, I could dig that Sub-Zero killed his family, that he went to the afterlife, but as soon as Quan Chi mentions "returning his family from the dead", instead of relating to them, the guy says, literally "Don't call me Hasashi anymore. Call me... SCORPION!" Um, what? You just said that you want your family back, what does this all have to do with your nickname (aside from being true to MK)?!? Seriously, who wrote this?!
Anyway, despite the plot being flawed A LOT, animation is good for most of the parts (if you don't count Jax's face/Sonya's arms... well, come to think of it, it borrows heavily from Japanese anime styles, and while this is understandable, I can't say I didn't laugh HARD at some bits), especially those late Sherlocky-Holmesy bone breaking close up effects. Sound quality is fine and all. It's a watchable flick, I guess, 18+ but watchable if your kids are into MK. My problem really lies with the plot vs the title... ARGH, I can't decide which one I hate more. 3 stars.
