Not at all for purists, but an excellent adaptation of the story. Episode 1 gives an interesting twist to the original story and includes many humorous moments that modern viewers will enjoy. It’s not overly gruesome or meant to startle you. It’s an interesting and fresh look at the legend.
Episode 2 attempts to fill in the gaps from the original by telling the story of what happened aboard the Demeter. Funny, entertaining, and informative (for those of us who like myths). Yet another couple of cool plot twists.
Episode 3. Count Dracula makes it to the 21st Century and allows us to contemplate dying, death, and what happens when we embark on our journey to the great beyond. Intriguing explanations of vampire lore are provided, as well as an examination of vanity, loyalty, true love, and cowardice.
The actors bring something modern and “alive” to the characters and making Van Helsing a woman creates for great banter and dynamics between the protagonist and antagonist. Again, if you’re an adaptation purist, go into it with an open mind!
