I didn't enjoy it.
The first episode is okayish. But from there it goes downhill. Nanno is determined to bring out the worst in people.
We're all have dark sides. And sometimes when pushed to the extremes, the darkness shows. But every other day, we're all striving to be good and kind human beings. We strive to overcome the darkness and choose light.
Nanno is just preying for weaknesses in other students, and instead of helping them get better, she just sets up psychotic traps for them where they show the ugliness of their beings.
It's not fun or thrilling. It's disgusting.
And what is it with making sexual violence, specifically rape, look like an activity Nanno enjoys just so she can exact revenge? Rape is a big and horrible thing. But this series glorifies it as if it's some side hustle Nanno embarks on and is rewarded by pursuing revenge.
Finally, the storyline is boneless. Like totally lacking in structure and a spine. There's no plot to follow. There's no actor the viewer is compelled to protect or care for.
We know nothing about Nanno nor the other characters.
It's not deep and in each episode it feels you're just floating aimlessly without an anchor. No salt. No pepper. No paprika. Just plain tasteless soup.
I wouldn't recommend Girl from Nowhere especially to true psychological thriller fans. It's not gripping, doesn't invoke fear or adrenaline rush. Just anger and disgust.
