I'm an old-school fan. This debacle has the same primary failings as Discovery: after 50 years of setting up a believable, bright future, these shows give you characters and scenarios that don't fit into the folklore. For instance people who don't know what protocol is. Also where for decades Trek did a great job veiling contemporary issues in future scenarios, this just hits over the head with current events. There's plenty of humor to be found from Trek, always has been. This pushes too hard to make its own.
