Student of the Year 2: A Starkid Disaster
"Student of the Year 2" has to be one of the most disappointing movies I've ever watched. From the acting to the music to the dance sequences, everything felt lackluster and uninspired. The lead actors, mostly starkids, seem to have gotten their big break solely based on their family connections, and unfortunately, it shows. Their performances were wooden, lacking depth or genuine emotion. It felt like watching a high school play rather than a big-budget Bollywood film.
The movie tries to cash in on the success of the first "Student of the Year," which was a fresh, youthful, and well-crafted film starring Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra. Unfortunately, "Student of the Year 2" does not come close to matching its predecessor's charm or storyline. Instead of building on the foundation laid by the original, it feels like a hollow attempt to ride on its coattails. The storyline is predictable and cliché, filled with over-the-top drama and contrived conflicts that fail to engage or entertain.
Even the music and dance numbers, which one would expect to be the saving grace of such a film, were a letdown. The songs were forgettable, and the choreography lacked the energy and creativity that one would hope for in a movie supposedly centered around youthful competition and spirit.
Overall, "Student of the Year 2" is a glaring example of how starkids get an easy entry into Bollywood, often at the expense of more deserving talent and storytelling. It’s a film that could have been so much more but ended up being much less, leaving audiences like me frustrated and disappointed.
